“To the Academy and everyone who helped me along the way, thanks.”
Acclaimed American filmmaker David Lynch finally got the chance to take his own Oscar home after being nominated for the Academy Award 4 times.
The man behind Twin Peaks, The Mullholland Drive, Blue Velvet and many more oftentimes controversial and thought-provoking films was presented with the award by his regular partners Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, and Isabella Rossellini, and his excitement about the ceremony as well as winning the award summarized to just two sentences of gratitude: “To the Academy and everyone who helped me along the way, thanks”, before looking at his Oscar statue: “You have a very nice face.”
